Our condolences: Death of Prof. Annemarie Schimmel.
The staff of muslimphilosophy.com joins the philosophical community around the world in offering condolences to the family and students of Prof. Annemarie Schimmel (1922-2003). Prof. Schimmel passed away in Bonn, Germany on January 26, 2003 at the age of 80. One of the world’s foremost experts on Persian poetry and Sufism, her publications included hundreds of articles and books on Islamic art, theology, poetry, calligraphy and mysticism, as well as translations of Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Urdu and Sindhi poetry into German and English.
Our thoughts and our wishes are with her family and students.
